Meet the Players: Coutney Bealor: Universal Player

The USI Women's Volleyball Team plays with HEART 100% of the time and that is something that you can't teach, coach, or instill in a player. We play for the love of the game and for our team. Over the past four years, every individual girl I have had an opportunity to play with has impacted my life and I am so grateful for all of the memories and friendships I have gained.

Meet the Players: Emily Meyer: Right Side Hitter

I chose USI for several reasons. The biggest reason was for the opportunity to play volleyball in college which had been my dream since I was a little kid. However, the school and campus itself had several great attributes that further attracted me to the school. I love how the small class sizes give USI the feeling of a small school while in actuality, it is fairly large. I also love that the professors reach out to their students; they make themselves available outside of class. So far, all my professors have been available if I needed help with any of my classes.

Also, everyone on campus is very friendly and welcoming. They will make you feel right at home.

Meet the Players: Abbi Williams: Outside Hitter

I have never been the biggest player out on the court but these big girls have never intimidated me because I was used to playing against girls that were much taller than me. We were playing Fusion in the semi-finals in a huge tournament that we wanted to win. Me and her had been battling the entire game and we had people from all over the gym coming to watch this great game. It was 24-23 in the 4th game. One more point and we advanced to the finals. I remember my coach told me "Abbi, do not let her get that ball across the net again" and with the biggest jump i had left in me, I didn't let her. We won the game and I blocked one of the best players in the nation. This was the best feeling in the world because my coach was so confident in me that I didn't think I was going to block her that point, I KNEW I was going to block her. I became a much more confident player from this point on and I will never forget this epic win against Fusion.

Meet the Players: Ashley Henricks: Middle Blocker

My favorite thing about college is the time spent finding my place in the world. It sounds cheesy, but it’s true! College has brought many experiences that have molded my personality and values and volleyball is one of those experiences. It wasn't only about the game, but about the people I got to enjoy it with. The team is made of great girls, all with different personalities, and we had some amazing times together. Whether we were laughing or crying I learned a lot from each of them and wouldn't change a thing! - Ashley

Meet the Players: Krista Coccaro Libero

Hi my name is Krista. I was libero for the 2009 season. In high school I hung out with a very diverse group of friends. Now in college I find myself hanging out with a group full of athletes. We all have our individual friends, but when it comes down to it all of us athletes get along and are friends. Personally, it keeps me focused being around people who have the same hobbies and interests. When I am not hanging out with the team I am busy studying, sleeping and hanging out with my boyfriend who also plays a sport at U.S.I.

Meet the Players: Jackie Johnson Outside Hitter

Being from Southern Indiana, USI has always been a part of my life. My father and uncle played baseball at USI (formerly ISUE) and my older sister graduated from USI as well. I had the privilege to have USI volleyball players as my coaches on my club team as well. I have always loved the idea of going to a smaller university that was close to my home town and when I found out I had the chance to play volleyball at USI I knew I couldn't turn the opportunity down. USI athletics in general have always had a great reputation as well as great success in the GLVC.

Playing volleyball at USI has given me some of the best memories and greatest friends I will ever have.
